Scott Bevan is a “wonderful guy.” That’s how anyone who knows him would describe him. He’s happiest with a fishing rod in his hand, roaming the beach with his chocolate lab, Bella, playing with his nieces and nephew, laughing it up with his buddies and being with his love of 17 years—his wife, Deneen. You rarely see him without a smile on his face. He’s a loving son and brother. He is 43 years old.
Scott’s world was recently turned upside down when he was diagnosed with stage IV metastasized melanoma. A construction worker for the past 25 years, Scott has been laid-off since July 2009 due to the economic slow-down. Scott does not have health insurance. He was only months away from being eligible for Deneen’s insurance policy when they received the devastating news of Scott’s cancer.
Scott’s family and friends have rallied around him and he is currently under the care of two renowned oncologists who are working aggressively to treat Scott’s cancer. However, he is financially unable to pay for all of the necessary tests, MRIs, treatments and medications he needs. As you can imagine, the costs are astronomical. But this will not stop us from making sure Scott is given everything he needs to be well again.
